Every year, the IGSU (Interest Group for a Clean Environment) organises a Clean-Up Day in Switzerland during which dedicated citizens, communities, cities, school classes, associations and other organisations clean up public spaces, streets and parks. In doing so, these groups are sending out a strong signal against littering in the long term and for a cleaner Switzerland.
The event is supported by the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN), the specialist organisation Kommunale Infrastruktur (Communal Infrastructures) and the PUSCH Foundation. The aim of the event is to inform the public about the subject of littering and to encourage them to take better care of public spaces. It should thus contribute not only to increasing cleanliness and quality of life in the short term, but also ensure lasting improvement.
